Meeting Point – Welcome and Start of the Historical Itinerary

Your private tour begins at 9:00 AM. If you are staying inside the walled labyrinth of the medina, your official local guide will pick you up directly from the door of your hotel or riad. If your accommodation is located in the new part of the city (Gueliz or Hivernage) or on the outskirts, we will meet at a strategic and very easily accessible point: the tourist parking lot next to the emblematic Koutoubia Mosque. Prepare to be amazed and inspired!

We will begin the circuit by contemplating the majesty of The Koutoubia, whose 69-meter minaret served as a model for the Giralda in Seville. Your guide will uncover the origins of this masterpiece of Almohad art and the history of the ancient stone palace (Ksar Al Hajjar) upon which it stands. From here, we will enter the urban grid crossing the colorful Kasbah market and the historic Jewish quarter (El Mellah), advancing through the aromas of the spice souk until reaching Badia Square.

Palaces, Hidden Gems, and Medersas of the Medina

Our next stop will be the lavish Bahia Palace (whose name means “The Brilliant”), built at the end of the 19th century as the grandest residence of its time. Your guide will lead you through its courtyards of honor, its reception halls, and its lush gardens, revealing the political and harem intrigues of the era. Next, we will move toward the mysterious Saadian Tombs. This 16th-century royal cemetery remained walled off and hidden from the world for centuries; after passing through its narrow entrance hallway, you will marvel at mausoleums of extreme beauty decorated with intricate stuccoes and Carrara marble.

The tour will continue by diving deep into the bustle of the central Souk, where local artisans work with leather, metal, and textiles following ancient techniques. Amidst the hustle and bustle, your guide will lead you to an oasis of peace and extreme tranquility: the Ben Youssef Medersa. Built in the 16th century, this Andalusian jewel was the most important Koranic school in the region. You will be fascinated by the harmony of its interior courtyard, its central pool for ablutions, and the austere cells where students lived while memorizing the Koran.

Jemaa el Fna Square – End of the Guided Tour

We will conclude the 5-hour tour at the legendary Jemaa el Fna Square, the undisputed heart of Marrakech. Your guide will show you how this immense open space completely transforms over the hours, serving as a daytime stage for orange juice vendors, traditional water sellers, and snake charmers.
