We will set off heading south, immediately beginning the ascent toward the majestic peaks of the High Atlas.

We will cross one of the most impressive and scenic roads in North Africa. During the mountain journey, we will make several strategic stops at panoramic viewpoints to stretch our legs and take spectacular photographs of the small adobe Berber villages blended into the slopes of the gorges. We will crest the highest point of the route, the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, located at an altitude of 2,260 meters, where you will witness a drastic change in scenery: the Atlantic vegetation of Marrakech gives way to the captivating pre-Saharan aridity of the south.

Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – The Ksar of Cinema and Lunch in the Oasis

We will descend the slopes of the Atlas until we detour toward the Ounila River valley to find the imposing silhouette of the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. You will have free time to explore at your own pace this ancient fortified ksar made of adobe and straw, the most splendid in the country.

You will cross the riverbed to enter its battlements and alleys steeped in history. We recommend climbing the interior steps calmly to the top of the hill, where the old fortified granary is located: the panoramic views of the palm grove, the stony desert, and the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas in the background are an absolute visual delight. Lovers of the seventh art will immediately identify the spots where cinematic masterpieces such as Gladiator or Lawrence of Arabia were filmed. Around noon, you can enjoy lunch at your leisure in local restaurants with terraces facing the fortress.

Ouarzazate – The Gateway to the Desert and Return to Marrakech

In the afternoon, we will continue the journey a few kilometers further to reach Ouarzazate, settled on a large plateau. You will have free time to explore the city at your own leisure. You can choose to visit the lavish Taourirt Kasbah, the excellently restored former residence of the Pasha Glaoui, or optionally step into the Atlas Film Studios, where the colossal Egyptian, Roman, and biblical sets of this cinematic mecca are preserved. If you wish, you will also have the opportunity to take a brief optional camel ride through the surrounding adobe landscapes.

At the time agreed upon with your driver, we will meet again at our exclusive private transport to begin the route back. Crossing the spectacular Atlas passes once more under the evening light, we will return to Marrakech in the evening, concluding this great cultural day with a direct drop-off at the door of your hotel or riad.
